"This vital resource will benefit Denmark High school students, it's just crazy to even consider closing." (Carolyn, Denmark)
"The CSL Building represents a great resource for the town of Denmark, attracting visitors for conferences and providing space for local groups to hold meetings and workshops. Denmark has no other venues available to run events of these types and it would be a great loss to our community." (Andrew, Denmark)
"The world needs to be aware of how far sustainable living has become, especially children. Please invest in this center and keep it open because it can only get bigger and better. Don't take this away from our future,it just hurts our odds of having one." (Kenny, NYC)
"I have stayed at & used the Centre for Sustainable Living several times. A leader in its establishment was former colleague, the late Clive Malcolm, a world authority on managing saltland. Respect that vision." (Peter, Bunbury)
"This centre cannot close! It's the most brilliant space for workshops and events. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. The Sanctuary was built for the community, by the community, how can that be taken away!? It is everything that Denmark and it's locals are about." (Alex, Denmark)
"A lot of passion, expertise and money has gone into making CSL a prime example of a working educational centre for improving life on our planet. It must not go to waste - the issues are too important." (Lynne, Hilton)
"CSL is a valuable part of Denmark culture and education." (Andrew, Denmark)
"Have attended many valuable functions here. Wonderful conference facility." (Chris, Cockburn)
"As an experienced teacher in adult education I have had the opportunity to use the CSL in Denmark on a number of occasions. It is a great asset to the town of Denmark, as well as to the larger region of the South West of WA. Indeed, it is an excellent example of the kind of community service facility that should be emulated by towns and regional centres all over the country.
It would be a truly tragic and irreplaceable loss to the people of this state. The public needs more of this kind of facility promoting sustainable living in these challenging times, not less. There is no conceivable 'better use' to which these buildings could be put, as they are ideally suited to their purpose. It is also a great adjunct to the high school next door, and more engagement between the high school and the CSL should be actively encouraged and promoted." (Lance, Margaret River)
"This Centre is an amazing resource for both the local community and sustainability practitioners and students elsewhere in the state. Please see this as the community, sustainability and learning asset thatt it is." (Alisha, Hilton)
"I had a chance to visit the CSL as a visiting ph.D. student from Italy. It was a great experience. From an engineering viewpoint, the CSL is what academics call "Best Practice", i.e. the state of the art of sustainable technologies and design. I would have never thought to hear this news. The value of the center, both in social, environmental and economic terms, reflects the very meaning of sustainability." (Alessandro, Italy)
"I took part in a terrific nature writing course at CSL in October 2011. It takes both vision and facilities, and being Denmark, to have local experts and creative people come together and work on the future of our environment." (Tineke, Beaconsfield)
"CSL is a place that models the power and creativity of community goodwill and intention. I've attended training, conferences and fora here. To the bloody-minded attitude of 'officials' - here's a tip: it works better when you collaborate. Really it does!" (Robyn, Geraldton)
"The Centre for Sustainable Living should remain open. It is vital for the community's wellbeing." (Edward, Denmark)
"Because sustainability is one of the most important goals for the future." (Hannah, Perth)
"The Centre for Sustainable Living is an important resource for Denmark and the world. Sustainable living is now a vital component to our future, and the CSL is VITAL to aid awareness and help the world become more environmentally sustainable." (Trevor, Denmark)
"I ran a workshop at the CSL, and also stayed overnight there. I run sustainability workshops all over Australia and NZ and can honestly say this was one of the best venues and facilities I have had the pleasure of working and staying in. From my brief stay, it was obvious that the CSL is an integral part of the Denmark community and such facilities will only become more critical as we enter a new era of community-based sustainability." (Tim, Brunswick West)
"I have both facillitated and participated in sessions at the centre . It is a vital part of the community and one of the best venues I have had the pleasure to present in .It can not close." (Christine, Seven Hills)
"We in the Sustainability Program at Murdoch University run an annual course that involves a week's stay at CSL. The combination of accommodation and conference facilities with the working model of a sustainable retrofit and social enterprise business model make this centre unique and irreplaceable. There must be a solution to enable the CSL to stay where it is." (Nicole, Denmark)
"The Centre for Sustainable Living is an important community resource for people in Denmark and throughout the SW region, including Perth. I have attended events there that could be held in very few other locations. The Centre has come to embody a wide community's hope for the future of the state of WA." (Joanna, South Fremantle)
"This is a vital, unique and beautiful facility and rather than taking it over for other purposes, the education department should be using it as a blueprint for similar educational facilities in all major regional towns in Western Australia. Invest MORE in these kinds of facilities and the wealth of sustainability education they provide." (Hrimnir, Bunbury)
"This is a valuable resource for promoting sustainability and must not be closed down." (South West Environment Centre, Bunbury)
"A solution that enables the Centre for Sustainable Living to continue with its awesome and essential work should be found...after all sustainability can not be brushed under the carpet." (Amanda, Bunbury)
"Out of Sight Tours are proud to have worked with CSL and Greenskills on a number of projects over the years, including most recently the Water and Energy Expo; Curtin University Sustainability workshops; and providing an accommodation base for our international intern. As a local ecotourism business, we support CSL's vision of developing an education hub for sustainable development and believe that closure of the centre would be an enormous environmental, social and economic loss to Denmark and the region." (Lenore, Denmark)
"Have spent time there, is a great place. Very much worth saving." (Tom, Perth)
"I studied at the CSL as my final unit in a Sustainability Degree through Murdoch and it provided the opotunity for students to combine all the aquired knowledge into a practicle setting. This alows students to become emersed in a comunity and understand some of the complexities of sustainability that a small comunity face. There is no other facility like this . This a wonderful facility and should be seen a show case." (Graeme, Perth)
"The CSL is an important centre of learning, unique in deliverables of learning driven by people who have invested in some cases their life's work. Having had the privilege to study there as part of my BSc degree in Sustainable Development, I found it to be the most interesting, worthy and relevant of all courses taken so far. I see this facility as the equivalent of a laboratory in the field of sustainability; its diversity and difference is exactly what is required, I feel. The CSL in Denmark should have further funding and expansion if anything, perhaps the education department needs to look to the future of the children in their care; institutions like this are and will play a major role in that, lets hope common sense prevails." (Tim, Yangebup)
"I have taken part in many innovative educational workshops and events. I strongly support the CSL as it continues to provide leadership in environmental and social education." (Joanne, Denmark)
"CSL is a great resource and has proven to be of great benefit to the Denmarl Community in many ways. Not only as a venue, but as an inspiration for groups, businesses and individuals. I would hate to see the efforts of many, many people be minimalised by the closure." (Yvonne, Denmark)
"A wonderful resource and a pleasure to visit. Clean, tidy and well run. Surely the envy of many groups and institutions. A boon to the township of Denmark for both education and tourism. A pillar of the brand that Denmark portrays to a global community. In a world of growing sustainablity awareness, an investment in the future and a tool for overcoming the current crisis. To close this venue would be an act of malice, cynicism and ignorance." (Alistair, Margaret River)
"The CSL is an invaluable community resource. The centre educates, nurtures, supports and inspires the community towards living a sustainably viable life. I moved to Denmark to be a part of this great organisation." (Dawn, Denmark)
"I am a Murdoch University Student and I stayed at the Centre for Sustainable LIving for a week late last year when studying a unit in Sustainable Development called Resilient Regions. I experienced first hand the valuable contribution CSL makes to the community as both an education facility and a conduit between visitors and locals. It actively promotes the ethos of living sustainably so I was able to see some of the theory put into practice. In talking to the local people as part of the course I was quickly made aware of how valued the facility and the dedicated staff are by the community. It would be a major loss to Denmark if the CSL was closed. A way should be found for meeting the needs of the high school that benefits the CSL, not ceases it." (Barb, Perth)
"In these critical times where we need to promote sustainability as much as possible, it seems ridiculous to lose such a wonderful facility that gives the region a solid base for environmental education." (Paula, Albany)
"10 years and $1M in community funding, only to have the leasor decide to take it back? Wrong!" (Serena, Fremantle)
"I studied and stayed at the CSL as part of my Murdoch University Sustainability Degree. The unit (practical not theory) offered to students is unmatched in the university because of the support offered by the CSL. Taking this facility away prevents others from practical learning, living, and understanding. It also acts as a benchmark for commercial buildings to match or exceed. In a state where sustainability is so unpracticed, it is so important to keep buildings like the CSL as an example of sustainable feasibility." (Kylie, Queens Park)
"The CSL is a valuable resource for our whole community. Environmental education and learning to live sustainably is something that will benefit us all - our community, our region and the world. Let's not lose this unique facility." (Kathy, Denmark)
"I have spent time at the centre and found it a wonderful resource for learning and teaching about sustainability. The education department should recognise the potential for joint work on site and work collaboratively to integrate sustainability into its teaching and practice as a powerful model to students." (Peter, Bonn)
"I think it's a valuable asset for learning for future needs." (Lynette, Aldinga)
"So much community planning & hard work went into creating this wonderful centre. It would be great to think it could be shared with the school, but not for the community to be excluded. It is great for workshops, demonstrations to so many people of important sustainable technologies, and ceremonies. My mother's funeral was held there (she'd been part of the group that saved this building from being demolished by the Dept.) Please keep it for the community!" (Brenda, Bayswater)
"CSL is a model for communities practicing sustainability and educating The work done in the last ten years is too valuable to waste." (Bryce, Wembley)
"The adoption of sustainable lifestyles is vital for the longterm protection of our natural assets. This facilty showcases means by which individuals can learn how to minimise the negative impacts of thier day-to-day lives on our planet." (Adam, Mandurah)
"I cannot imagine Denmark without the CSL. I am a relatively new resident and I have found the Centre is a wealth of information. I have attended a workshop and have plans to attend more. Please support the bid to allow the CSL to grow and thrive in the Denmark community." (Ylonda, Denmark)
"I am appalled that anyone would consider closing the CSL at time when their knowledge and expertise is needed by society in its efforts to adapt and mitigate climate change. I traveled from NSW to attend one of their courses and was impressed by the facilities, experience and devotion of the staff at the CSL. This is a very short sighted and irresponsible decision. Where is all the consultation with community that is required before such decisions are made? Shameful." (Cheryl, Terrigal)
"Since moving to Denmark 6 years ago the CSL has been a regular source of inspiration, whether it be how to live more sustainably, consideration for our natural environment, efforts to save the red tailed cockatoo and many other important considerations for our community. May their work continue." (Peter, Denmark)
"The CSL is a very important intregal part of the Denmark community on many relevent levels. It is a unique setup & Leader in all of WA........many towns would like to have what we have." (Theresa, Denmark)
"Because it is an invaluable education tool and a part of local history." (Robert, Balingup)
"Have visited the centre on many occassions and had successful seminars. The centre is amazing and so much effort has gone into the business. To close the premises would be an absolute shame for all Western Australians." (Carlene, Preston Beach)
"I believe that the term 'sustainability' should be the essence of how we conduct ourselves in life - not merely rhetoric. CSL empowers people to live sustainably." (Diana, Tumbling Waters)
"I believe the Centre for Sustainable Living is an important facility for educating the public and community about environmental and sustainability issues. It would be very sad to see it closed." (Christine, Perth)
"CSL has become a Denmark institution. It serves a function that no other community organisations does and yet collaborates with many other groups. We should not be made to do without it now. It is crucial to our town's well being culture that it remains and serves the environment, education, tourism and the arts sectors." (Valeska, Denmark)
"The Centre for Sustainable Living is an important educational facility for the Great Southern." (Julia, Albany)
"I have run my own art workshops at the Centre for Sustainable Living as well as participating in many other learning programs. I have also coordinated a Youth Arts Project over the last three years that has been 'housed' at the CSL - in the form of art exhibitions, live-in youth forums, and like events - it would be a tragedy to lose this integral centre which promotes a pathway to life-long learning, fostering community partnerships and professional allegiances within a wide range of industry sectors including, health, education, the arts and environment." (Nikki, Denmark)
"I have had marvellous experiences with Albany District PEAC students at CSL and consider it one of the best educational resources in this region." (Suze, Albany)
"Denmark is a leader in sustainability and the CSL is a vital part of that role. This is a time to increase our efforts towards sustainability, not to reduce them. I have attended many valuable functions at the CSL and have also been given the opportunity to facilitate two workshops there." (Sudeva, Denmark)
"The Centre for Sustainability in Denmark, W. Aust is an inspiration to progressive-thinkinhg people world-wide who are seeking innovative ways to improve the quality of human life in ways that don't diminish Earth resources...it is a valuable and essential resource for current and future generations." (Paul, Karamea)
"I have been studying sustainability at Curtin University and will be moving my family to Denmark in the new year to start a new sustainable life. I will bring my capability, enthusiasm and investment to Denmark in the sustainability arena. I am enthusiastic that Denmark can further its reputation in this respect. The news of the CSL potentially closing causes me to take a step back and question some of my reasoning. Does the Shire of Denmark value it's reputation in the sustainability arena and understand it's future importance? It would be most disappointing and black mark against the shire if an amicable solution cannot be found." (Mark, City Beach)
"I think the CSL is such an important community facility and in an environment in which the Government wants to support positive partnerhsips between schools and community it would be detrimental to disband an existing and successful partnerhsip model." (Nina, Perth)
"Working for a NFP I have hired rooms at the Centre on many occassions." (Ilona, Albany)
"Having spent time at the centre to complete a highly useful training, I found it a great model as a resource for learning and teaching about sustainability. I would hope that the education department recognises the value of this resource and that it will in fact work collaboratively to integrate sustainability into ithe teaching and practice of the high school as a powerful model to students." (Helene, Yokine)
"The Centre is a unique and accessible retreat and conference facility which is much needed in this area." (Lorraine, Albany)
"Sustainable education is super important...it seem crazy to shut down a centre such as this, particularly when there is so much debate going on about Australia's environmental future at the moment." (Paddy, Perth)
"Having taught workshops for several school groups at CSL, I am dismayed at the news regarding possible closure of CSL. The Denmark community has invested so much in this excellent facility, and a pledge of secure tenure was given, which needs to be honored by all parties concerned. Shame on the decision makers who wish to oust CSL!" (Kate, Albany)
"Because the CSL is a unique facility viewed with by enthusiasm by local and regional individuals and non government organizations, that we have a lot to learn from the excellent work being done by the CSL, more so than the school, that the government should be proud of multi-use facilities and engagement of the community with the school site and finally that the children at the school have a direct learning experience. Any problems faced by the DET should be focusing on win-win solutions for both parties." (Marie, Northcliffe)
"The centre is a forward thinking facility for the locals and visitors alike." (John, Denmark)
"The CSL is such a valuable asset to WA, let alone the South West, it would be a retrograde step for it to have to close." (Judith, Albany)
"I believe such a centre is invaluable to the whole community and especially for school childen to be involved in." (Beverley, Denmark)
"The Centre for Sustainable Living is a unique facility that supports not just our local community but people from far and wide to learn directly about sustainable living. It's function is of great importance." (Subhi, Denmark)
"The CSL is essential for Denmark,it is very well utilized and should not close." (Sheila, Denmark)
"Our CSL is an amazing place that supports and unites Denmark's many varied slices of society at minimal cost, making us a more culturally diverse place. To remove it from it's home is to attack the very heart of Denmark. It says our townspeople are unimportant. A place so innovative and unique is to be protected." (Cheryle, Denmark)
"The agreed lease was 15 years. Green Skills have put immense work into transforming this building - which the Education Dept. only saw fit for demolition - into an amazing, inspiring education facility for one of the most critically important issues of our time - sustainability. Green Skills HAVE NOT been sleeping on the job. The Centre has been well used to its full potential, for a myriad of purposes, filling a niche in the Great Southern community for a conference venue and opening the eyes of visitors to the possibilities of environmental stewardship. People in the local community have invested their time and energy at the centre, often for little or no cost - with the belief that the centre would be operating for at least 15 years, and that their work would benefit the Sustainability movement. The Principal's letter to Green Skills is unjust and should be reconsidered in consultation with Green Skills Management." (Helen, Albany)
"I have not seen The Centre yet, however I would like to have a chance to see and follow i'ts progress. I am a wildlife carer and very concious of a need to educate the public about sustainable living." (Linda, Bayswater)
"The Denmark community, Green Skills and visitors have made an enormous financial and human resources investment into the CSL and it seems very unfair for the High School to want to reclaim the facility. The question of compensation at least should be put on the table." (Martin, Murdoch)
"Sustainable living is the only way, for our children and the future of mankind." (Kate, Upper Hutt)
"The CSL is a very important community and educational asset, unique in what it provides and offers: education, general information and guidance to those wanting to make a diffierence to their lives the world in which we all dwell; multiple opportunities for learning and sharing experiences at many different levels. Its facilities and surrounds are examples of what we each as individuals can work towards achieving. It is also very important in terms of the way in which its people (staff and volunteers alike) have created an important sense of place which brings like minded individuals together.
I would hope for a mutually satisfactory solution for the Education Department and Green Skills which has kept the Centre for Sustainable Living a vibrant important community asset. It would be a very great loss to all of us if we are to witness its demise and transformation." (Janette, Denmark)
"I would hope for the possibility of dialogue and a willingness to work towards finding a solution to the current situation which sees GreenSkills vacating the Centre for Sustainable Living by mid next year.
Whilst I fully understand the Education Department's desire to provide a much improved facility for Denmark's children and future, the CSL is also working towards the same goal in terms of educating and reaching out into the community. Iit seems inconceivable that both groups of educators (the Dept of Education and Green Skills) can not work together to find a solution.
My wife Janette and I started our small business almost one year ago and we chose the CSL as the site to hold our launch, and we also use the commercial kitchen facilities regularly. It is quite a challenge for a small business to develop and thrive in the best of times but in this economic climate it is extremely difficult; we have long had the desire to replicate and put into practice sustainable business practises which are so often talked about these days, and Green Skills offers us a perfect example of sustainabillity in action and a model towards which we strive.
Let's all be creative and attempt to find a way in which dialogue can be opened and a solution found that works for both the Education Department and Green Skills that sees the Centre for Sustainable Living remain and continue all its good work for community and region." (Xavier, Denmark)
"As a new Denmark resident I have become aware of the good work the CSL does for the local and state/intersate communities. This is a unique organisation which would be a travesty to lose. I am sure with some reasoned negotiations a win/win outcome can be found." (Keith, Denmark)
"As a performing musician I found the support of the people and the beautiful environment at the sanctuary an inspiring place to perform. As a regional focus of very positive energy it would be a shame to lose the centre." (Michael, Albany)
"Due to the substantial investment made already and the work that has been done, this seems a very shortsighted decision. There must be an alternative if the school requires more space. Sustainability is essential for all to learn, not just those with an interest in the field." (Jennie, Bassendean)
"Because I believe it is Denmark's Identity and hopefully in the near future it could be integrated for absolutely everyone in the community." (Jeremy, Denmark)
"A wonderful resource in an excellent and appropriate site. A marvellous community asset. The whole notion of relocating is presumptuous. It will contribute to the High School by being co-located." (Jane, Denmark)
"The centre offers incredibly pertinent and timely workshops that can educate all of us on how to improve our own health and the health of our world. Why would any government want to close such a useful resource???" (Perri, Albany)
"My reason for signing this petition is Sustainable living is our future. How else are people to reach an understanding that we need to bring back community values, support and working towards good healthy living habits? We need to protect OUR ENVIRONMENT and show RESPECT for what makes the foundation of every living thing on this precious planet. I WANT SUSTAINABILITY CENTRES IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA....... Please keep the Centre open for generations to come !" (Nellie, Perth)
"This is a world class facility of learning about sustainability. Denmark and the world cannot afford to lose such wonderful places." (Christine, Perth)
"The CSL is an important information and educational resource for many people, not only for the Denmark community. We should not lose this facility." (Dawn, Denmark)
"In the 90s I worked hard to keep the Old Ag. College, now as the CSL & GSIT - it's a powerful and unique resource." (Jennie, Denmark)
"This is one of the most important centres in Denmark. Providing a place that is sustainable and functional, it is iconic. So much time, effort and money have been spent in good faith. Bigger organisations should not trample the heart of a community." (Deborah, Mt Barker)
"The voters of 90 years in the future deserve to have our precious South West country and unparalleled biodiversity of species with endemic value protected, with solid renewable energy principles preserved for all time. I could return year to year to learn about tree planting and marsupials." (Joe, Kardinya)
"My time at CSL was inspirational. It is an asset to the community of Denmark and is crucial to our future as a country." (Amy, Perth)
"I have attended interesting and useful workshops at the centre and see it as a wonderful community resource that needs to continue." (Pamela, Maylands)
"These types of centres need support to help them grow and lead the way into taking responsibility for our impact on the planet!" (Lucinda, Perth)
"The school principal, the Ed. Dept. and the Minister are behaving like bullies. I thought this kind of behaviour was unacceptable in schools today? What sort of lesson is this for the children?" (Simon, Denmark)
"In 2008 I had the pleasure of giving two workshops at the Centre for Sustainable Living. It was clear that this is a highly-valued community facility that helps educate and connect the people of Denmark." (Malcolm, Mt Nelson)
"I lived in Denmark for a while and I know that a centre such as this is an asset to the entire township." (Ali, Broome)
"We must be able to educate everyone. To be able to live more sustainably for the whole worlds sake..." (David, Halls Creek)
"Greenskills have been doing vital revegetation work in the Denmark region for many years, working out of the CSL centre. We all need this community hub where artists, writers, scientists, and ecologists can come together to work on solutions for a sustainable and resilient region." (Nandi, Hamilton Hill)
"I have attended many different activities at the CSL - bread making workshops, art exhibitions, yoga, music, environmental and feminist lectures. It is an important creative space for the people of Denmark (and the surrounds - I travel 50km to attend). Such places should be encouraged in a community, not taken away. It is hugely appreciated, cared for, inspiring and interesting." (Karene, Nornalup)
"This threatened action appears detrimental to the notion of community and education." (Reg, Mt Tarcoola)
"The building of the Old AG College would have been demolished if it had not been for efforts of a number of people. The School has no claim on the buildings. The CSL and community that use it's facilities are more important than the short term needs of the School." (Michael, Denmark)
"The community aspect of the centre is being completely overlooked here. As is the sustained commitment of a core of individuals in creating this place, and many other locals, and inter/national students and workers. Together, having created a significant education/community precinct that could benefit the school. The reasons offered of stranger danger won't go away just because the CSL is gone - it is something we must always be aware of in any situation when young people are in our care and in fact I find it a safer environment for my kids to be in because of the "community" aspect of the high school precinct. with the proximity of CSL and TAFE. As for drainage and lack of space, I believe there is room for expansion and consultation on this issue needs to begin immediately." (Donna, Denmark)
"I spent some time at this building whilst in WA and find it amazing that such a building and organisation as forward thinking as CSL is in danger of loosing something they have put so much work into creating, and most gov organisations would fail to do - clearly left to the education dept - this building would not be nearly so instrumental in teaching the whole community. Shame Ms Cole Shame..." (Dorothy, Park Avenue)
"I, and my family, have led and participated in many workshops at the CSL and see it as a vital part of my community. I'm devastated that the garden behind the CSL is already being demolished without significant community consultation. My little son and I helped plant the first beds there. It's plain stupidity to uproot such a valuable community facility. The High School needs to be reasonable and accommodate this precious facility AS IT IS in its plan for growth." (Silvia, Denmark)
"Because to have such an Institute that thinks more of the sustainability of our environment is very much important! Because honestly they are thinking more of our future and lives." (Miriama, Suva)
"This Centre has been an amazing role model and community facility, providing interesting education, information, space and connection not only for locals but for many people from all around Australia and further afield. The people involved have lovingly worked endlessly to create an environment for others that is sustainable which includes the afore mentioned, as well as large amounts of money into the building itself.
It has enormous social and economic benefits to this region. I would find it absolutely implorable if this is not valued and supported by keeping the centre open in this facility As a participant in different groups and courses I personally would be very disappointed in the decision to move or change this facility." (Lumari, Denmark)
"Shocking." (Peter, Hamilton Hill)
"The center is a heart piece of the denmark community, i have done so many valuable educational courses there, it should stay as it is, it belongs to denmark as a community !" (Ursula, Fremantle)
"The CSL is not only a great community model and an outstanding shining example of sustainability and energy-efficiency, it is also an invaluable institution for the various courses and events held there.
One of the reasons given against CSL's retaining the lease as being the 'danger' presented by members of the public to high school students is absolutely preposterous. A lot of different institutions border high schools all around the nation. This supposed 'danger' would be the case for the Denmark campus of the GSIT's proximity as well. Or is its lease under threat as well?" (Andi, Denmark)
"How's this for an idea? Implement a programme where the current Denmark High School students engage in building their new school buildings elsewhere on the highschool property. The students would benefit in learning ways of construction and can use alternaive building techiquniques such as hay bales, or poured earth and recycled car tyres. The learning benefits and pride associated with accomplishing such a task would turn a problem of loss and dislocation of others into a sense of place, and a sense of pride and knowledge to take into their older years. This is a believable option. Please consider it. Thanks x Surely the state government has enough money for a vibrant community like denmark to have both a High School and a Centre for Sustainable Living. Why should we have to take from one to have the other? Denmark does not need a community split like this to occur." (Kerry, Albany)
"I visited the CSL in October 2011 and was in awe of the amazing work they are doing to support sustainable partnerships and relationships with the community and the environment. The CSL is a role model to other communities and should be viewed with respect from the school. The opportunities for the school to embrace the philosophy and practices of the CSL will only strengthen the school community, the work of the CSL and the local community in Denmark and beyond. Imagine the learning possibilities and transformative outcomes for the students and community when both these centres of learning join together. Sustainability is based on relationships and there is an enormous potential for the CSL and school to join together." (Peter, Maianbar)
"I have witnessed the communal effort that went into saving and physically transforming old dormitories into a user-friendly building that is a practical showcase for sustainable technologies. It is also a well-located multi-use venue for communal events, exhibitions, and workshops, often with educational values, e.g. the annual sustainable energy expos. It has enhanced Denmark's reputation as a town at the forefront of sustainable developments in WA, and has done so in a low-impact friendly way." (Ann, Denmark)
"This resource would have been demolished if it had not been transformed. The Dept of Education does NOT get to take it back on their whim. It belongs to the COMMUNITY of Denmark and the wider world." (Bronwen, Albany)
